If you are a member of a local organization and have upcoming events, or a local business or resident with news, updates, or photos to share, send them for inclusion in both the eNews and the City web site. Email your items or contact City Hall.

 
 

Upcoming Events

  • May 3 - City Clean Up Day - 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. in the City Hall parking lot. For residents within the city limits only; ID may be required. Click here for a list of acceptable materials and disposal fees.
  • May 3 - Beginning the first weekend in May, the city compost site will be open on Saturday mornings from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. and again on Wednesdays from 6:00-8:00 p.m.. Click here for more information on recycling and composting.
  • May 8 - Women's Night Out. Ladies, indulge yourself in an evening of relaxation at Montrose Family Chiropractic Clinic. Free food, door prizes, and give-aways. 6:00 - 8:30 p.m. C.ick here for more details.
  • May 17 & 18 - Art Festival & Farmer's Market at Nature's Nest Organic Farm & B&B. Organically grown plants, locally produced crafts and foods, live music, giant slingshot, and pony pictures. Visit their web site for complete details.
  • May 22 - 2nd Annual Spring Carnival at Montrose Elementary School from 6:00-8:30pm. All money raised will go towards the new playground. There will be a variety of games, a dunk tank, inflatable jumping games, silent auction, cake walk, raffle, or you can get a “tattoo” or “funky hair”. There will also be food and drink items for sale. Volunteers are needed, so if you can help out, please leave a message for the Parent Advisory Committee at 763-682-8341.

News & Announcements

  • The 2007 Drinking Water Report has been posted. This report outlines the results of drinking water monitoring from January 1, 2007 through December 31, 2007. Click here to view the report.
  • Spring Weight Restrictions - Spring road restrictions will go into effect in Wright County on March 15th at 12:01 a.m. All roads will be posted with signs indicating maximum allowable axle loads. The Wright County Sheriff's Department will enforce these limitations. Any questions should be directed to the Office of County Engineer at (763) 682-7383.   • Gardeners Take Note - The Parks & Recreation Commission is sponsoring three classes presented by Marty Bergland of Heirloom House Minnesota. Marty is a Master Gardener and a member of the Minnesota Horticultural Society. All classes are free of charge, however there is a minimum enrollment of 5, maximum 20 (children must be accompanied by an adult).
    • Monarch Madness - Designed for choldren to learn about Monarch butterflies. They will take home a Monarch butterfly egg to watch the metamorphesis. Thursday, June 26, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
    • Herbs: Thier Use in Kitchens & Teas - Class is for adults who wish to learn more about herbs and their many uses, including different types of teas. Saturday, July 19, 10:00-11:00 a.m.
    • Great Gourds - Class is designed for children. They will learn about gourds, where they come from, and what they're used for. Attendees will take home a completed gourd project. Saturday, October 4, 10:00-11:30 a.m.
  • Highway 12 Construction Projects:
    • Information about the 2-phase project through the City of Delano .
    • MN-DOT's project page for the second phase of construction on the bypass around Long Lake.
    • The Montrose Economic Development Authority has established a committee to prepare recommendations for design and redevelopment of the U.S. Highway 12 Corridor. If you were unable to attend previous meetings this year on the topic, but are interested in serving on the committee, please contact Joanne Foust at 763-675-3717 (1st and 3rd Tues) or 952-758-7399.
