Police Department

Police Protection for the City of Montrose is provided by the Wright County Sheriff's Department. 

Montrose is currently contracted for 10 hours per day between the hours of 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 a.m. with shared coverage with the City of Waverly. 

The Wright County Sheriff's Department is the 3rd largest sheriff's office in Minnesota. They provide law enforcement services to the unincorporated areas of the county and additionally contract police service with 13 cities. 

There are eleven divisions within the sheriff’s office: Administration, Bailiff, Civil Process, Communications, Community Services, Corrections, Criminal Investigations, Patrol, Recreational Enforcement, Special Investigation’s Unit (Narcotics), and Warrants / Transports.
