Message from the mayor

The start of a new year signals a new beginning, and this is as true as ever in the City of Montrose. As your newly-elected mayor, I want you to know how excited I am about the future of our town. Considering the dire news about the state budget and knowing that it will affect us, this may seem like a strange thing to say, but challenges are opportunities that can bring out the best in all of us. We can get through anything if we all work together.

“Auld Lang Syne”, as so many of us sang such a short time ago, is an old Scottish phrase meaning “times gone by”. For you to embrace this new beginning there may be things that you need to let go of with the time that has gone by, fences that need mending or grudges that need to be released. We are moving forward and would love to have you join us; only you can hold yourself back.

To celebrate this fresh start, please consider joining one of our many volunteer committees. Whether you are gifted in high finance, child care or any other discipline we would love to work with you! You can find the Commission Application here. This would also be an excellent opportunity to help us go green by signing-up for an electronic version of the newsletter. Just click “Join the Email List” on the homepage and follow the instructions.

Thank you all for this opportunity to serve you and work along side of you!
Andy
